Connect your ChatGPT ads account with a single API key. Spend, impressions, clicks, conversions and revenue sit in the same table as your other ad channels, campaign by campaign.

What ChatGPT ads (OpenAI ads) are and how they work

A ChatGPT ad is a sponsored card that appears below the answer in OpenAI's chat assistant. A user asks a question, the answer arrives, and an ad related to the conversation is placed underneath it. The answer itself is not paid for; the ad is a separate, labelled space.

For advertisers this is a new kind of intent signal. People describe their problem in full sentences rather than two-word searches, and the ad sits next to that context. That also makes measurement harder: the click happens in a chat, the conversion happens on your site, and the two have to be joined by a pixel or a server-side event.

Who ChatGPT advertising suits

Because there is no interest targeting, ChatGPT ads lean on context: the topic of the conversation decides whether your ad is relevant. Businesses whose customers research before they buy tend to fit that model better than impulse purchases.

  • Services people compare carefully: clinics, education, software, financial and legal services.
  • Products with long research phases, where a buyer asks several questions before choosing.
  • Brands that already run Meta, Google or TikTok and want to know whether a new channel earns its share of the budget.
  • Agencies that need to show clients a new channel in the same report as the existing ones.

How to connect a ChatGPT ad account to the panel

Connection steps
  1. 1
    Get the key

Create an Ads API key for your ad account in ChatGPT's ads manager.

  2. 2
    Paste it in Integrations

Open the ChatGPT Ads card on the Integrations screen, paste the key and press Connect.

  3. 3
    Verification

Before the key is saved, the account details are requested with it; an invalid key is never stored.

  4. 4
    Account shown

The card shows the account name, account ID, currency and the date it was connected.

  • The key is stored encrypted and never shown on screen again; it does not appear in any response or log.
  • Each Ads API key is scoped to one ad account, so one ChatGPT account is connected per brand.
  • Agencies use the key that belongs to the client's account; if it changes, update it with "Change API key".
  • A key that contains spaces or is longer than 512 characters is rejected.

ChatGPT, Meta, Google and TikTok in one table

Ad channels and the unified report
MetaGoogleTikTokChatGPT
Unified ad report
Platform comparisonShare quadrantHealth scoreClient report

All 4 channels are measured at the same time. If one channel fails, the others still load; that channel's row shows "Could not measure" with a "Reconnect" link. A channel that is not connected is never added to the total as zero.

Columns in the platform comparison table
ColumnHow it is calculated
SpendThe channel's spend in the selected window
RevenueThe value of conversions, in the account's currency
ConversionsFor ChatGPT, the account's goal conversions, after click and after view
Return (ROAS)Revenue ÷ spend
CTRClicks ÷ impressions
CPCSpend ÷ clicks
Cost per conversionSpend ÷ conversions

The share quadrant compares each channel's share of spend with its share of revenue. The threshold is 1 ÷ the number of channels; a channel that brings in more revenue than its share is marked "Efficient", and one that takes more budget than its share while bringing in less revenue is marked "Inefficient". You decide whether to move budget.

  • Efficient: revenue share above the threshold, spend share below it; a candidate for more budget.
  • Scaled: both shares above the threshold; most of the budget and revenue is here.
  • Inefficient: spend share above the threshold, revenue share below it.
  • Small: both shares below the threshold.

Campaign breakdown and previous-period comparison

  • The 10 largest ChatGPT campaigns by spend are listed with name, spend, impressions, clicks and conversions.
  • Cost per conversion is calculated for each campaign; a campaign with no conversions leaves the cost blank instead of showing zero.
  • Spend and conversions for the previous period of the same length are read, and the change is shown as a percentage.
  • The health score comes from the change in return, cost per conversion and conversion count. If either period has fewer than 10 conversions, the screen says so next to the score.

The campaign list is where a new channel usually shows its shape. One campaign often carries most of the spend early on; seeing its cost per conversion next to the others tells you whether the channel works or one campaign does.

How ChatGPT ad data is measured

Measurement rules
SituationWhat the panel does
Accounts in different currenciesNo spend or revenue total; impressions, clicks and conversions are still added
Day boundarySet by the ChatGPT account's time zone; the window counts back from yesterday
Conversion endpoint did not respondSpend shows; conversions and revenue read "unknown"
Pixel not installedConversions are not measured and are not written as zero
Same report opened againServed from a 5-minute cache; Refresh fetches fresh data

The Ads API reports full days in the account's time zone, with an exclusive end date, and covers at most 365 days. The panel follows the same rule, so its numbers line up with what you see in ChatGPT's ads manager for the same days.

Revenue is read in the ChatGPT account's own currency. Converting it at an exchange rate would produce a total that matches neither the ad account nor your bookkeeping, so mixed-currency totals are left out and each channel keeps its own currency.

Taking ChatGPT ads into your client report

The ad section of the monthly client report reads all 4 channels together; once ChatGPT is connected, its row appears in the report on its own. For report periods and templates, see reporting.

  • You do not need to build a separate table for a new channel.
  • The numbers in the client report come from the same source as the numbers in the panel.
  • Reports cover periods of up to 365 days; ChatGPT data is requested at most 365 days back.

What the panel does not do for ChatGPT

  • Campaigns, ads and budgets are built and changed in ChatGPT's own ads manager; the panel only reads them.
  • Automatic rules do not run on ChatGPT campaigns; for rules on the other channels, see ad automation.
  • There are no automatic alerts for sudden changes in ChatGPT spend or results.
  • Creative variant tests are not set up for ChatGPT campaigns from the panel; for the test flow, see A/B testing.

Frequently asked questions

Can you advertise on ChatGPT?

Yes. ChatGPT shows ads to users on the free and Go plans, below the chat, as text or image. In Turkey, ads went live on 17.09.2026.

How do I advertise on ChatGPT?

Campaigns are built in ChatGPT's ads manager: choose country and device, optionally an email or phone list and context hints, and set a daily budget of at least 25 US dollars. Install the OpenAI pixel to measure conversions.

Does AgentFabrica create ChatGPT campaigns?

No. The panel measures campaigns and compares them with your other channels; campaigns, ads and budgets stay in ChatGPT's own ads manager.

What do I need to connect?

An Ads API key for your ad account. Paste it into the ChatGPT Ads card on the Integrations screen; the key is verified with an account call before it is saved.

Is my API key safe?

The key is stored encrypted, never shown on screen again and never included in any response or log. To replace it, use the "Change API key" button on the card.

Which metrics come through?

Spend, impressions, clicks, conversions and revenue; click-through rate, cost per click, return and cost per conversion are calculated from them. The 10 largest campaigns by spend are listed separately.

Why do conversions show as "unknown"?

Either the OpenAI pixel or Conversions API is not set up on your site, or the conversion endpoint did not respond at that moment. The panel never writes an unmeasured value as zero; spend still shows.

What if my ChatGPT account is in dollars and the others are in lira?

When currencies differ, no spend or revenue total is shown, because a total converted at an exchange rate would mislead. Impressions, clicks and conversions are still added, and each channel shows its own currency.

Which plan includes the ChatGPT connection?

The connection has no separate plan requirement. For panel plans and trial terms, see pricing.
