A Looker Studio alternative for people who do not want to build reports

Before you look for a Looker Studio alternative, give it its due: it is free, connects natively to Google products and has a flexible editor. Google now calls it Data Studio. The problem is not the tool; it is that building and maintaining every client report is your job.

The report's structure: source and metric names match the report. Values come from the accounts you connect.

Looker Studio and AgentFabrica side by side

The two tools answer different questions. Looker Studio is a blank canvas with a powerful editor. AgentFabrica's report has a fixed structure: you connect accounts and the report builds itself. If you only report on Google Ads, the Google Ads dashboard page covers Google's own free dashboards too.

What Looker Studio does well

A fair comparison starts with the tool's strengths. Everything below is stated on Google's own page.

  • Free for creators and report viewers.
  • Direct connections to Google products such as GA4, Google Ads and Search Console.
  • Over 1,300 community connectors for non-Google databases and apps.
  • A visual editor that lets you change every part of the report.

Where the time goes

Looker Studio's cost is labour, not licences. You build the report for each new client, update the template, and find out why a connection broke. For agencies that time adds up client by client; see white label reporting.

  • Google Ads and Search Console data refreshes every 12 hours, and that cannot be changed.
  • Non-Google sources need community connectors, which third-party companies publish on their own terms.
  • Each client gets a separate report copy; a template change has to be carried into every copy.

Frequently asked questions

Is Looker Studio free?

Yes for creators and viewers. Pro costs $9 per user per project per month.

Is Looker Studio the same as Data Studio?

Yes. Google now uses the Data Studio name; both names still appear in search.

How often does Looker Studio data refresh?

Google products such as Google Ads and Search Console refresh every 12 hours, and that cannot be changed. Google Analytics can be set to 1, 4 or 12 hours.

Should I stop using Looker Studio?

Not necessarily. If you want a free, flexible tool and enjoy building reports, it is a good choice. If you want the report done for you each month, a ready-made report fits better.

Do I need to migrate my data?

No. You connect the same accounts; your Looker Studio reports stay as they are.

Can I send reports under my own brand?

Yes, on the agency plan. Your logo, colour and product name appear in the export, the shared link and the email. The agency plan covers 25 brands.

Is VAT included?

No, prices exclude VAT. Yearly billing is 20% off.
