How the watchlist works as a product price tracker

When you start watching a product in product hunting, it is saved to your brand's watchlist with the price and data it had at that moment. That record alone shows no change; you need measurement runs to see one.

From measurement to decision
  1. 1
    Watch a product

Add a product you found in product hunting.

  2. 2
    Take a measurement

The first run records today's values.

  3. 3
    Measure again

The next run shows price and demand change in percent.

  4. 4
    Read the signal

Tabs and alerts bring products that need a look to the top.

How often and how prices are tracked

A run starts with “Take a measurement”. Each product is searched again on its own marketplace by title; if a listing with the same external ID is found, its current price, monthly sales, review count, average rating, margin and trend strength are recorded.

  • Up to 25 products are refreshed per run.
  • If a product cannot be found on its marketplace, no measurement is written; an old value is never saved as a new one.
  • When the run ends, the screen tells you how many products could not be measured.
  • Up to 60 measurements are kept per product; older ones are removed.

How the watch score is calculated

Component weights in the watch score
Demand momentum30%
Price trend25%
Estimated margin20%
Trend strength15%
Customer rating10%

Weights are read from the constant the score calculation uses. The weight of a dimension that cannot be measured is spread across the measured ones.

Components and their data
ComponentCalculated fromIf it cannot be measured
Demand momentumChange in monthly sales; review count change when sales data is missingDemand change appears after the second measurement
Price trendPrice change; a falling price raises the scorePrice could not be read
Estimated marginThe product's estimated net margin; 50% or more scores full marksSupplier cost unknown, margin not calculated
Trend strengthSearch trend out of 100Search trend could not be measured
Customer ratingAverage rating out of 5No customer rating on this listing

A score of 85 or more counts as a strong opportunity, 70 or more as good potential, and below 45 as weak. Trend strength is relative interest from 0 to 100, as in Google Trends, not an absolute search count. For category-level search interest, see trend analysis.

Tabs, signals and threshold alerts

  • Strong opportunity: products with a watch score of 85 or more.
  • Demand rose: products whose demand grew 25% or more since the previous measurement.
  • Price dropped: products whose price fell 5% or more since the previous measurement.
  • Risk: products in a risk state or past one of your thresholds.

Thresholds must be between 1 and 100; up to 8 conditions per product.

From list to decision: add to catalog or stop following

A promising candidate has two ways forward. “Add to catalog” saves it to your product catalog with its name, category, image, link and price; you can select several and add them at once. Products you lose interest in, you stop following.

  • A good fit for sellers choosing between a few candidate products.
  • A good fit for product researchers who want to spot falling prices or rising demand early.
  • Not a fit if you want a tool that reprices your own listings against competitors; this list never changes prices.

Frequently asked questions

What is the product watchlist for?

It keeps candidate products from product hunting in one list tied to your brand, records price, demand and rating on every measurement run and shows the change since the previous one in percent.

How do I add products?

Start watching a product in product hunting or on its detail page. The “Start watching” flag on Today's Winners is stored only in your browser and does not reach this list.

How often are prices tracked?

You start each run; “Take a measurement” searches each product on its own marketplace again. There are no scheduled automatic runs today. Up to 25 products are refreshed per run.

Will I get a notification when a price drops?

No email or push notification is sent. If a threshold you set is crossed, the product moves to the top with an alert badge and shows in the Risk tab.

Why are the percentages empty?

Change needs at least two measurements. The first run leaves percentages empty; after the second, the comparison uses the measurement closest to 7 days earlier.

Can I see the number of sellers?

No. Marketplace data does not return seller counts today, so the screen does not show that field at all rather than estimating a number.

Which plan includes the watchlist?

The watchlist, like product hunting, needs the E-Commerce Plus add-on (included in E-Commerce Plus plans). The brand's setup model must be E-commerce · Local Market or E-commerce+ · Cross-border. Without it, the list does not open.
