What a product catalogue is, and which one this is

"Product catalogue" means two things. One is a printed or PDF catalogue that presents products page by page. The other is the digital catalogue: the product data your store and marketplaces run on.

This screen is the second. Product name, description, images, category, price, cost and stock sit in one place, and every channel is fed from that data. It does not produce printed catalogues.

How the marketplace readiness score works

The score comes from six checks. Images and description weigh the most, because they cause most marketplace rejections and low conversion.

Weights in the readiness score

Description20%
Price competitiveness20%
Title15%
Category10%
Stock10%

Weights are read from the product's readiness score module and add up to 100.

What the checks look at

  • Title: under 20 characters is weak in search; over 100 characters gets cut off in listings.
  • Images: marketplaces want at least 3; the image count is scored against that target.
  • Description: under 200 characters counts as incomplete.
  • Price competitiveness: the selling price is compared with the category median; with no median, it is not measured.
  • Margin: not calculated without a recorded product cost; a share of the selling price is not a margin.

How products come in and go out

The catalogue workflow
  1. 1
    Bring products in

Sync your store, import a CSV file or add products by hand.

  2. 2
    Read the score

Each product's readiness score and gap list are calculated.

  3. 3
    Close gaps

Improve the description with AI, add images and a category.

  4. 4
    Adjust prices

Change prices for selected products in bulk.

  5. 5
    Send to marketplaces

Products past the threshold go to the channels you choose.

  • CSV import recognises name, SKU, description, category, price, cost, image, tags and features columns, with flexible column names.
  • In bulk publishing, products below the threshold are not sent and the result says how many were skipped.
  • When a description is improved, the readiness score is recalculated.
  • If you track a keyword matching the product name in trend analysis, the catalogue's trend column fills in.

Which channels products go to

The catalogue keeps a separate status for Trendyol, Hepsiburada, Amazon, Etsy, Shopify: live, ready, incomplete, error or none. Sending to Google Merchant Center is currently off: Google shut down its old product API and the move to the new one is not done yet.

Marketplace statuses
StatusMeaning
LiveThe listing is open on that channel
ReadyProduct content passed the threshold and can be sent
IncompleteA listing was opened but has not gone live
ErrorThe channel returned an error on the last send
NoneContent is below the threshold or was never sent

Every channel has its own product data rules. Google's product data specification lists the required and recommended fields, and Trendyol's product creation docs show what that marketplace asks for.

Frequently asked questions

What is a product catalogue?

A single list holding each product's name, description, images, category, price and stock. A digital catalogue feeds your store and marketplaces; a printed catalogue presents products as a document.

Does this screen make PDF or printed catalogues?

No. It is a digital product catalogue: it prepares product data for marketplaces and sends it to channels.

How is the readiness score calculated?

Images carry 25%, description 20%, price competitiveness 20%, title 15%, category 10% and stock 10%. A score of 80 or more counts as ready.

How do I import products?

Sync your connected store or upload a marketplace or Shopify export as a CSV. A name column is required; other columns match flexibly.

Which marketplaces can I send to?

Trendyol, Hepsiburada, Amazon, Etsy, Shopify. The channel account must be connected, and products below the threshold are skipped in bulk publishing. Sending to Google Merchant Center is currently off.

Why is the margin empty?

Without a recorded product cost, margin is not calculated. Showing a share of the selling price as margin would mislead; enter the cost and it fills in.

Does it write descriptions?

You can improve descriptions with AI, for one product or in bulk for a selection. The readiness score is recalculated afterwards.

How is it different from store management?

The product catalogue prepares product data and sends it to channels. Store management runs the live store's orders, stock and profitability.
