Marketplace managementWhat setup adds to your store
When you start dropshipping, the slowest job is moving products into your store one by one and writing a price and description for each. The wizard does that inside your connected Shopify store, with your choices.
| What is added | Where it comes from | Your control |
|---|---|---|
| Products (1 to 20) | The connected supplier's catalogue | Remove any you do not want |
| Selling price | Supplier cost and your chosen strategy | You pick the strategy and can edit prices later |
| Product description | Written by AI in the tone you choose | Premium, friendly or technical |
| Collections | When a category has at least 2 products, up to 6 collections | No category data, no collection |
| Pages | About, contact, FAQ, shipping, returns, privacy and terms | You tick which ones to create |
Setup in four steps
- 1Niche and market
Choose the niche, target market, store type and language.
- 2Products
Set the number of products, selection priority and pricing strategy.
- 3Brand and copy
Choose the brand name and the tone of descriptions.
- 4Pages and publishing
Pick which pages to create and draft or direct publishing.
- 5Setup
It runs in the background, with progress shown step by step.
- Store type can be single product, niche store or general store.
- Selection priority ranks products by potential score, low cost or fast delivery.
- Leave the brand name blank and the niche name is used; the name goes into the products' vendor field.
- Before anything is written, you see the products and prices in a preview.
Selling price is calculated from cost
Each product's selling price comes from supplier cost with the strategy you choose, rounded up to a figure ending in .90. The chart shows the four strategies for a product that costs 100 in your store currency.
Values come from the price calculation setup uses. Shipping, fees, ads and tax are not included in this margin.
- Cost arrives in the supplier's currency and is converted to your store currency before pricing.
- A product with no cost gets no price and is flagged as no price in the preview.
- The competitor median strategy only sets a price when competitor price data exists and the median is above cost.
Draft or publish directly
| Publishing mode | What happens | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Products stay hidden until you check and publish them | First setup, and whenever a product has no price |
| Publish directly | Products are added as active and go on sale at once | When every product in the preview has a price and image |
Shopify's product details page explains what draft and active status mean. Legal pages are always created as drafts, whatever mode you choose.
Why legal pages are created as drafts
Shipping, returns, privacy and terms have to describe your real business terms. A template cannot know them, and a wrong return window is a promise made to your customer.
- Put the supplier's real delivery time on the shipping page. Google notes that return policies are shown in shopping ads and affect purchase decisions.
- Match the returns page to consumer law in your target market. In the US, the FTC's Mail, Internet or Telephone Order Rule sets shipping-time duties.
- In the privacy policy, state what data you collect and which apps you share it with.
- Shopify's store policies guide explains how these pages appear at checkout.
After setup
Setup is a starting point. Once the store is live, you run products, orders and stock in store management, and keep product data in order in the product catalogue.
- If you have not chosen a niche yet, start with the niche radar.
- To see what sells and at what price, use product hunting.
- If you would rather hand over the day-to-day, our ecommerce management service takes on products, orders and marketplaces.
Frequently asked questions
How does automatic store setup work?
Connect your Shopify store and choose niche, products, brand and publishing options in the wizard. Setup then adds products, collections and the pages you picked in the background.
Can I use it without a Shopify store?
No. Setup adds products and pages inside a connected Shopify store; you open the store and domain on Shopify first.
Where do the products come from?
From the connected dropshipping supplier's catalogue. If no supplier is connected, setup does not start and no made-up products are added.
How is the selling price set?
From supplier cost: 2.5 or 3 times cost, a 40% or 50% target margin, or the competitor median. The figure is rounded up to end in .90.
Do products go on sale straight away?
The default is draft: products stay hidden until you check and publish them. You can choose direct publishing instead.
Does it change my theme?
No. It reads your live theme's name and adds products and pages inside it. Change the theme in the Shopify admin.
Does it write my legal pages?
Shipping, returns, privacy and terms pages are created as drafts. Edit them to match your own terms and your target market's law before publishing.
How is it different from store management?
Automatic store setup builds the store's first products and pages. Store management runs products, orders and stock for the live store and your marketplace accounts.
